Extensions Q & A's
What kind of hair extensions do you offer?
Great Lengths semi-permanent extensions and pop-ins that are used as temporary extensions.
Is it human hair?
Yes, both are human hair that can be permed, colored, washed and styled. Pop-ins are also available in synthetic hair as a less expensive alternative.
How long do they last?
The Great Lengths last 4-6 months, pop-ins are used on a day to day basis.
Will extensions damage my hair?
Damage is very minimal. Great Lengths uses a protein bond as apposed to glue or metal that actually bonds to your own hair on the same molecular level. Any damage that may occur does not come from the bonding method, but from the weight of the hair.
How much does it cost?
The actual cost is determined at the time of your consultation. Extensions start at $175 an hour and increase depending on the length that is desired by you. The service can take anywhere from 1-8 hours including hair shaping. Pop-ins start at $295 for a ten piece set in human hair, $75 for synthetic. A deposit for the service will be charged at the time you book your appointment. For this reason the complimentary consultation is a mandatory start to the extension service.
How do you take them out?
Great Lengths must be removed professionally. We use a special solution which helps crystallize the bond so that it flakes off without breaking the hair. The cost for removal is $55 an hour and can take 1-2 1/2 hours.
Can I color my hair with extensions in?
Yes, you can color or bleach your hair around your hairline and part. However, we recommend that you do not get the color on or to close to the bond of the extension.
Can I use extensions to make my bangs look longer?
Pop-ins are best for this purpose.
My hair is thinning on top will extensions make my hair look thicker?
Once again, Pop-ins are your best bet if you have very thin hair on top.
